Educational content. This article lists the pip value per lot for every forex symbol in the Vanto feed and shows how the figure is converted to your account currency. It does not constitute investment advice or a recommendation. CFD trading carries significant risk of loss and may not be suitable for all investors.

Pip value is the profit or loss, in money, when a forex price moves one pip on one lot. On all 42 Vanto forex symbols one standard lot is 100,000 units, so one pip is worth 10 units of the quote currency, or 1,000 JPY on yen pairs. In USD that is exactly 10 on EURUSD and about 6.32 on USDJPY at the 10 October 2026 feed snapshot.

This page is a lookup table. For the definition of a pip and the pipette, read what is a pip in trading. For lots, read what is a lot.

Pip Value Per Lot for All 42 Forex Symbols

The table below gives the pip value in USD for 1 lot, 0.1 lot and 0.01 lot on every forex symbol in the feed, with the quote currency that drives it.

Pip value in USD = pip size x 100,000 x (USD value of one unit of the quote currency). The quote-currency rates are the mid prices in the feed. Rates move, so the USD figures move with them. The 10-unit (or 1,000 JPY) figure in the quote currency never changes.

Why Do 14 Quote Currencies Produce Only 14 Different Pip Values?

Pip value in USD depends on the quote currency alone, because the base currency never enters the formula. EURCAD, GBPCAD, AUDCAD, NZDCAD and USDCAD all show USD 7.01 per lot, because the profit of each is paid in Canadian dollars.

Grouped by quote currency, the 42 symbols reduce to 14 values:

Quote currency Pip value per lot (quote currency) USD per lot, snapshot Symbols
GBP 10 GBP 13.24 EURGBP

Source: Vanto feed snapshot, 10 October 2026.

A script over the full feed confirms two ranking facts for that snapshot: EURGBP has the highest pip value per lot among the forex symbols, and EURMXN and USDMXN have the lowest. The reason is the quote currency's exchange rate, not anything about the pair. One pound bought USD 1.3236 in the snapshot; one Mexican peso bought about USD 0.0543.

The practical meaning: 10 pips on EURGBP and 10 pips on USDMXN move the same number of price points, yet the first is worth about 24 times as much per lot (13.24 divided by 0.543 is 24.4). Pip counts cannot be compared across pairs without the pip value beside them.

How Is the Pip Value Calculated?

The pip value in the quote currency is pip size times contract size. The USD figure then multiplies that by the USD value of one unit of the quote currency.

Pip value (quote currency) = pip size x contract size

  • Standard pair: 0.0001 x 100,000 = 10 units of the quote currency.
  • Yen pair: 0.01 x 100,000 = 1,000 JPY.

Pip value (USD) = pip value (quote currency) x USD per unit of quote currency

Three quote-currency cases cover the whole table:

  1. Quote currency is USD (EURUSD): 10 x 1 = USD 10.00. No conversion.
  2. Quote currency has a direct USD pair (EURGBP, quoted in GBP, with GBPUSD at 1.32363): 10 GBP x 1.32363 = USD 13.24.
  3. USD is the base of the conversion pair (JPY, via USDJPY at 158.2995): divide instead. 1,000 JPY / 158.2995 = USD 6.32.

The contract size is read from the symbol specification of each symbol, not assumed. To see what that field means and why it differs outside forex, read what is contract size in trading.

Worked Examples

Each example shows the arithmetic from the table values, so you can repeat it for any symbol.

Example 1: a yen cross, 25-pip stop, 0.20 lot. On GBPJPY the pip value is 1,000 JPY per lot. At 0.20 lot it is 200 JPY per pip. A 25-pip stop distance risks 25 x 200 = 5,000 JPY. At USDJPY 158.2995 that is 5,000 / 158.2995 = about USD 31.59. The same figure from the table: 25 pips x 0.20 lot x USD 6.32 = USD 31.60 (the difference is rounding).

Example 2: a pound cross, 15-pip stop, 0.50 lot. On EURGBP the pip value is 10 GBP per lot, so 5 GBP per pip at 0.50 lot. A 15-pip stop risks 15 x 5 = 75 GBP. At GBPUSD 1.32363 that is 75 x 1.32363 = USD 99.27.

Example 3: the same 20-pip stop on three symbols, 1 lot each.

Symbol Pip value per lot (USD, snapshot) 20 pips x 1 lot (USD)
EURUSD 10.00 200.00
USDJPY 6.32 126.34
USDMXN 0.543 10.86

The pip distance is identical; the money differs by a factor of about 18. Pip-based risk rules therefore need the pip value of the symbol, not just the pip count. The sizing method itself is in what is a lot, and a trade-plan view of stop distance is in what is the risk-reward ratio.

Why Does the Pip Value Change When the Exchange Rate Moves?

On every pair not quoted in USD, the pip value in USD changes with the quote currency's exchange rate, even though the pip value in the quote currency is fixed.

The yen shows it most clearly, because the pip value in USD is 1,000 divided by USDJPY:

USDJPY Pip value per lot (USD)
140 7.14
150 6.67
158.30 6.32
160 6.25

The first, second and fourth rows are arithmetic illustrations, not forecasts or expectations about the rate. The third row is the feed snapshot. A weaker yen means a lower USD pip value on every yen pair, and the same logic applies to every quote currency in the table.

For a USD account the pip value of a position is therefore not a constant between opening and closing. It is fixed at the quote-currency level, and converted at the rate prevailing when profit or loss is calculated. This is also why a sizing calculation made at the open can be slightly off by the close on non-USD-quoted pairs.

What About Accounts Not Denominated in USD?

The conversion rule is the same for any account currency: convert the quote-currency pip value into the account currency at the current rate.

Account currency Symbol Calculation (1 lot) Pip value
USD EURUSD 10 USD x 1 USD 10.00
SGD EURUSD 10 USD x 1.28076 (USDSGD mid) about SGD 12.81
JPY EURUSD 10 USD x 158.2995 (USDJPY mid) about JPY 1,583
JPY USDJPY 1,000 JPY, no conversion JPY 1,000

Source: Vanto feed snapshot, 10 October 2026, mid prices.

A pair quoted in your own account currency needs no conversion. That is the case for JPY pairs on a yen account and for USD-quoted pairs on a USD account. Everything else is converted, and the figure shifts with the rate. Check the account currency of your own account before using any table; the trading calculator shows the figure for the symbol you pick.

One Pip Is Not Always One Point in MT5

MT5 shows prices in points, where one point is the last displayed decimal. On 5-digit and 3-digit symbols one pip is 10 points. In the feed, USDSGD is quoted to 6 digits, so the conventional pip (the fourth decimal, 0.0001) is 100 points there, not 10.

Symbol group Digits in feed Smallest step (point) Pip Points per pip
Most pairs, e.g. EURUSD, USDHKD, USDCNH 5 0.00001 0.0001 10
Yen pairs, e.g. USDJPY 3 0.001 0.01 10
USDSGD 6 0.000001 0.0001 100

Source: Vanto feed snapshot, 10 October 2026. Of the 42 forex symbols, 7 (the yen pairs) are quoted to 3 digits, USDSGD to 6 digits and the other 34 to 5 digits.

If a platform field reports a distance in points, divide by 10 (or by 100 on USDSGD) before using the pip value in this article. A stop entered as 250 points on EURUSD is 25 pips; entered on USDSGD it is 2.5 pips. Distances in points and distances in pips are not interchangeable when the pip value is quoted per pip.

Common Mistakes When Using a Pip Value Table

Most errors come from applying a table figure where it does not hold. These are the four that show up most often.

  • Assuming USD 10 per pip everywhere. It is exact on 4 of the 42 symbols. On the others it is the quote currency's 10 units converted to USD, which ranges from USD 0.54 to USD 13.24 in the snapshot.
  • Treating a snapshot as a standing rate. The USD column is true on the snapshot date. The quote-currency column (10 units, 1,000 JPY) is the stable one.
  • Counting pips on different pairs as equal risk. Example 3 above: 20 pips is USD 200 on EURUSD and under USD 11 on USDMXN, per lot.
  • Linking pip value to leverage. Pip value comes from contract size and the exchange rate. Leverage on forex (up to 1:500) sets how much margin a position needs; it does not change what a pip is worth, though it can let you hold a position whose losses exceed your intuition. Leverage amplifies losses as well as gains.

Spread also converts through the same figure: a spread of S pips costs S times the pip value per lot at entry. With a hypothetical 1.5-pip spread on 1 lot of EURUSD that is 1.5 x USD 10 = USD 15. Live spreads vary by symbol and time; the mechanism is covered in what is the spread in trading.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the pip value of 1 lot of EURUSD?

It is exactly USD 10 per pip on a USD account, because EURUSD is quoted in USD and the contract size is 100,000 EUR. At 0.1 lot it is USD 1 and at the 0.01 lot minimum it is USD 0.10.

Which forex pair has the highest pip value per lot?

In the Vanto feed snapshot of 10 October 2026 it was EURGBP at about USD 13.24, followed by the six CHF-quoted pairs at about USD 12.04. The ranking follows the quote currency's value against USD, so it can change as rates move.

Why is a pip worth less on USDJPY than on EURUSD?

A yen pip is 0.01, worth 1,000 JPY per lot, and one yen is worth far less than one dollar. At USDJPY 158.30 that is USD 6.32 per pip per lot, against USD 10.00 on EURUSD.

Does the pip value change if I use a different lot size?

It scales in direct proportion. Half a lot has half the pip value and 0.01 lot has one hundredth, which is why the table shows 1, 0.1 and 0.01 lot side by side.

Is the pip value the same on every broker?

Not necessarily. It follows the contract size and the pip convention of each broker's symbol specification. Here, all 42 forex symbols use a 100,000-unit contract; confirm the specification of any other broker before reusing these figures.

How do I find the pip value of a symbol that is not in this table?

Multiply the pip size by the contract size to get the pip value in the quote currency, then convert it to your account currency at the current rate. The same steps work for any forex symbol.

Calculate the Numbers for Your Own Position

The table fixes the pip value per lot for a symbol at one moment. To see the figure for your symbol, lot size and account currency, use the trading calculator. Check the pip value there before placing a stop-loss, and treat any pip-based plan as subject to the risk that markets can move past a stop.
